This Darkened Dream

Grey Blindness

Not gonna lie, riding in the midwest can be pretty dreary. Especially around late summer, the humidity created by the surrounding industrial corn production causes this overcast grey miasma and it can last for weeks. I remember riding out on gravel roads through areas and it felt like I was in some kind of industrial park, instead of a mostly rural environment.

The grayness -- it can get to me. I want the earth to be healthy, and the patterns of nature to be normal, etc. None of that is going on. This is 100 percent man made environment, industial agriculture. with an emphasis on industrial. You can wear rose colored lenses, or a warmer shade and that can help a bit. But it wears me down.

I went on a ride recently and took these pictures. I was crossing a bridge and saw this graffiti which just popped in all that grey. Full disclosure, I have no idea what any of this shit means or says. I was so happy that I had to stop and just appreciate the reappearance of some color back into the landscape. Made my eyes feel better for a minute.
